| Athena
was Bob's baby, from the night she was born, as she lay snuggled in
his shirt at the veterinarian emergency room, while her mother underwent a
Caesarean delivery. He showed her at six months to a best of breed,
and was dumped the next day when she refused to walk on a leash (ending
Bob's show career). She was top dog for sixteen years, remaining
incredibly strong and athletic until shortly before she left us at almost
17. Athena produced very few puppies but two, Shogun and Gaea, have
forever left their mark on the breed. Her granddaughter Galadriel,
also tough, possessive, and beautiful, promised to keep Bob in line
for her, demanding her place at the head of bed while the others stay at
the foot. Athena has the
distinction of being the mother of the first female American Eskimo to
earn an AKC Championship. |
